Students working toward degrees in journalism must be able to present their work with confidence. Presentation and design skills are incorporated into many assignment students will complete in the journalism program’s courses.
Advertising students can take the Ad Copy Layout and Strategic Campaigns in Advertising Courses. Public relations students can take the PR Techniques and PR Campaigns courses. In these classes, majors complete creative campaign projects often designed by professionals.
After completing the pieces the student is often required to present them to peers and receive feedback. Journalism and Public Relations majors go on to use these skills in competition courses and in internships around the Oshkosh area.
The Department of Journalism at UW Oshkosh offers students the opportunity to apply for eight department scholarships. Students are also encouraged to apply for several state and national scholarships.
