The Daily News in West Bend and Times-Press in Hartford is looking for a journalist to fill a full-time newsroom opening.  Hours vary and will include some nights and weekends.

The reporter is responsible for weekly features, but must also be willing to jump into breaking news situations and help with long-term projects. WPR's Mike Simonson Memorial Investigative Reporting Fellowship - Apply by March 16

The Mike Simonson Memorial Investigative Reporting Fellowship is designed for a recent graduate or someone in the early years of his or her career with at least some radio reporting experience. The successful candidate will work on collaborative projects with Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) and the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism (WCIJ). This one year fellowship begins in spring/summer of 2018.

The fellow will receive close supervision and coaching as an investigative reporter, in areas that include story selection, interviewing, sound editing, and writing. As the successful candidate will be someone who already has some level of experience as a part-time or full-time reporter, this will be a higher-level of instruction and feedback, with a higher level of work product expected. In 2018, the primary focus of the fellowship will be on environmental issues although other areas of coverage may be explored.

Cato Institute, Washington D.C. - Offer spring, fall and summer internships

Students and early-career professionals play an instrumental role in helping the Cato
Institute advance libertarian principles. Cato hosts interns for three semester-long
sessions each year—spring, summer, and fall. Assigned to specific departments based
on their interests and backgrounds, interns are able to work one-on-one with scholars
and staff on research and communication of that research. Interns also participate in an
intensive seminar series in which they learn about public policy, economics, history, and
political philosophy. Additional seminars cover professional development topics, such as

African Campus offers photo internships in South Africa

2018 programs include:

  • Wildlife Filming: is focused on terrestrial film-making. During this time you start by building your storyline, filming, once filming is complete, you will return to Mossel Bay and edit your film so that by the end of the month you have a 3 to 5 minute film for your CV, submission to film festivals etc.
  • Travel and Wildlife Photojournalism: The program gives students a range of expeditions to be able to write first-hand accounts of the issues or topics; while pairing the photography skills necessary to have a complete story. Stories will be a mix of hard news, interviews, and features. Photography skills will include (but not limited to) landscapes, portraits, wildlife photography, and astrophotography.
